Ida Alice Ryan Charitable Trust Awards Grant to Physicians’ Care Clinic

Grant will fund medical care for low-income and uninsured DeKalb County residents

Decatur, GA, June 26, 2017 – A grant of $15,000 has been awarded to the Physicians’ Care Clinic (PCC) by the Ida Alice Ryan Charitable Trust, managed by Wells Fargo Philanthropic Services, to provide medical care to low-income and uninsured residents of DeKalb County.

PCC was founded by the DeKalb Medical Society in 1992, and is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2017. It is the oldest and largest volunteer-led charitable medical care clinic serving DeKalb County residents. PCC has nearly 1,200 enrolled patients, and last year achieved 2,155 patient encounters, provided 3,390 diagnostic tests, and filled 3,086 prescriptions.

The Ida A. Ryan Charitable Trust was created by the will of Miss Ida Alice Ryan, who died in 1953. The Trust supports many program areas, including health and human services with a top priority given to hospitals and health.

“We are so grateful to the Ida Alice Ryan Charitable Trust and to Wells Fargo Philanthropic Services for their on-going support of our mission and the services we are able to provide to those who lack health care in DeKalb County,” said Carole Fortenberry, Executive Director of the PCC.
